# City action taken in support of housing development
Definition
FY 2024 Status Update (Updated Fiscal Year Annual):
This metric documents the number of actions taken during the fiscal year beyond entitlement and issuance of building permits to support the development of housing. Housing development is a multi-year endeavor with a number of intermediary steps. Actions that the City may take include not limited to entering or modifying development agreements for the sale of City land, providing affordable housing loan funds to subsidize the development of affordable housing, construction monitoring of City subsidized projects, applying for state funding, entering into affordable housing or density bonus agreements to secure long-term affordability restrictions, adoption of housing favorable ordinances or zoning requirements. Data reflects actions taken in the current fiscal year where associated projects may have been authorized in prior fiscal years. For example, while the Affordable Housing Ordinance was updated in FY 23, entering into affordable housing agreements with developers will be ongoing activities that resulted from the ordinance that builds a portfolio of affordable housing.
