Definition
The Library continues to build thoughtful and innovative partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders to offer educational, cultural, and social support programs at both Library locations, and at outreach locations served by the bookmobile, based on community need. Programs and services include:
· Art exhibits and classes in collaboration with Hayward Arts Council; collaborations with the County’s mobile medical and homeless services and the VA Palo Alto mobile medical services; diverse cultural performances by community performing arts groups for all ages (Lunar New Year, Trunk-or-Treat), including place-making decorations to enhance community participation; robust community outreach programs providing information about free resources and programming (job resource fairs, birth-retirement resources; access to meals in collaboration with 5 Sikh Seva HUSD, and CSUEB; Learn and Play groups; bilingual storytimes, reading clubs and programming; adult literacy programming for English and non-native speakers in partnership with California State Library; after-school Homework Support services in collaboration with HUSD; diaper and backpack distributions in collaboration with the Supply Bank and First 5 of Alameda County; storytimes and music & movement programs to prepare for Pre-K and kindergarten; diverse author talks; Seed Lending Library and gardening/seed saving workshops in collaboration with Alameda County Master Gardeners; libraries of things including ukulele lending and classes; Tech Lending and Digital Literacy Support classes; and much more.
