Cultivate Vibrant Neighborhoods

Council’s vision for Hayward’s future includes: “Diverse families live in healthy, inclusive ‘complete communities’ with stable housing, safe streets, excellent schools, cultural attractions, and community services. The city celebrates its diversity openly with cultural events and protects that diversity with its commitment to equitable development. Hayward leads by developing important service partnerships between local and regional agencies.”

The City’s Maintenance Services and Library Departments lead the work for this priority, in partnership with the Neighborhood Services and Equity Divisions in the City Manager’s Office. Council has four objectives for this priority, which are discussed at several Council-Appointed bodies. These include the Library Commission, Keep Hayward Clean & Green Taskforce, Community Services Commission, and Youth Commission.
