

Improve e-bike adoption through the creation of an e-bike rebate program and ensuring that electric transit infrastructure such as EV chargers also serve e-bike and not just electric cars
Project Description
This project will provide discount vouchers and/or bicycles to Hayward residents. Funded by a grant from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), this will be the among the largest city-led programs in the United States. The program will provide thousands of bicycles or vouchers, along with safety accessories (helmets, locks, etc.), to residents, with a focus on serving low-income and historically disadvantaged populations in the students. The project will include a significant focus on providing bicycles to Hayward's many students.

FY 2024 Status Update (Updated Fiscal Year Annual):
The City has received a grant to implement a bicycle voucher program for City residents from the California Air Resource Board (CARB). Starting in Summer 2024, the City will be conducting outreach to inform design of the voucher program.
