Invest in Infrastructure

Council’s vision for Hayward’s future includes: “Clean, leafy and landscaped corridors are more walkable and bikeable. Hayward and its neighboring cities have prioritized active transportation and multi-modal corridors over a reliance on cars and roads. As a result, the City sees less traffic, less pollution, and less speeding.”

Infrastructure improvements through Hayward are led by the City’s Public Works Department, in partnership with Maintenance Services. The Public Works Department includes the City’s Transportation and Engineering Divisions, the Hayward Airport, and the City’s water and wastewater utilities. Council has three objectives for this priority, which are discussed at the Council Infrastructure & Airport Committee. Committee meetings are bi-monthly and are open to the public.
